Conducting a mock exercise gives some valuable business insights to identifies serious gaps. In order to prove that the organization is capable to handle the situation of downtime, all the staff and team members must be involved during the mock exercise to check the capability of the plan. After a periodic mock exercise, all gaps must be corrected quickly. 

Steps to conduct a mock in ISO 22301 are;-

Schedule a date when all the staff will be available so that every module is tested by the staff responsible. Create the scenario of a disaster by altering the normal functionality of the organization and operating it via an alternative method. Every member must be informed to conduct their respective test and make a list of all problematic issues to be addressed. Prioritize the issues according to the sequence in which they need to be resolved and reconduct the mock exercise. This cycle continues until the business continuity plan is fully tested and all issues are resolved.
